Georgia man pleads not guilty to planning an armed takeover of Tennessee town
There’s a whole constellation of wingnut militia blogs out there behind this bad craziness over grand juries. If you trace it all back to origin you find it starts with birtherism and ODS. [I won’t link the wingnut sites here, but if you google “citizen tsunami” you can find them easily enough.]
The FBI alleges Huff brought weapons into Tennessee earlier that month to carry out citizens’ arrests on 24 federal, state, and local officials.
Witnesses say Huff and other militia groups had plans to take over Madisonville.
Huff’s actions apparently stem from the arrest of Walter Fitzpatrick, III. He’s the man who tried to get a Monroe County grand jury to indict President Obama on treason charges.
Huff, along with other Fitzpatrick followers, believe Fitzpatrick was falsely arrested while attempting a citizen’s arrest on the grand jury foreman. They gathered outside the courthouse when Fitzpatrick faced those charges on April 20th.
